Volunteer Opportunities
Keshet is a thriving cultural organization in the community today because of its amazing volunteers. This passionate group is the backbone of the organization, assisting with productions, organizing special events, selling ad space in the playbills, posting fliers around town along with many other crucial roles. Typically Keshet has the help of over 200 volunteers putting in thousands of hours over a given year.
The following is a list of volunteer opportunities, including committees, specialized jobs and ongoing activities:
Usher at the Historic KiMo Theatre
See great theater, music, and dance in exchange for ushering. For each of the performance, volunteers must arrive 1 1/2 hours before the show and check in at the box office. Ushers are asked to dress in white shirts and black bottoms. We ask that ushers work before the show and at intermission, but do get to watch the show. Ushers must be able to stand for 1 1/2 hours at a time (pre-show duties) to hand out playbills, direct people to their seats, etc. Volunteers are trained on the night of the show. Volunteers must be over 18. For more information regarding ushering, please contact us at info@keshetdance.org.
Work/Study Program
Sign up for Keshet’s Work/Study Program and take classes in exchange for work hours. For every hour worked, participants are eligible for one hour of dance instruction. Applicantions are due prior to the beginning of each semester. Volunteers must be over 18. For more information regarding the work/study program, please contact us at info@keshetdance.org.
Ad Sales Committee
Each year Keshet produces a playbill for both the Spring Concert and Nutcracker on the Rocks. Members of this committee assist the staff in selling ad space in the playbill. Volunteers set their own goals based on their available time commitment. There are few meetings for this committee.
For more information regarding the ad sales committee, please contact Erin Crawley-Woods at erin@keshetdance.org.
Specialized Volunteer Needs for Productions
Backstage mentors – Help the performers with costuming and placement for entrances.
Costume Assistants – Includes mending, labeling and washing costumes as well as occasional costume creation.
For more information regarding these volunteer positions, please contact Kelsey Ann Olson, at info@keshetdance.org
Ongoing Volunteer Activities
In addition to the committees listed above, Keshet is always looking for volunteers to post flyers that promote the classes and shows at venues around Albuquerque and to help the Keshet staff keep the building clean.
