The Future!
We couldn’t be more excited about the Keshet Performing Arts Center (KPAC), an initiative of Keshet Dance Company and its founder, Shira Greenberg. The Center will house over 13,000 square feet of dance space within 5 dance studios; a 200-seat black box theater; yoga, Pilates and multi-purpose areas; educational and performance support spaces including an arts education library, costume shop, technical theater space, dressing rooms, student lounge and box office.
In addition to the administrative office of Keshet Dance Company, the center will also house the administrative offices of the New Mexico Water Collaborative, the New Mexico Ballet Company, and Mother Road Theatre Company, alongside an organic food restaurant, a physical/sports therapy practice, and indoor/outdoor community gathering spaces integrating with the greater Sawmill community.
So, right now, click over to our blog for the most recent news and developments, to keep track of KPAC’s progress and to learn about how you can help. Designed at 36,000 square foot, KPAC is slated to break ground in early 2012 in the Sawmill Village, within the Sawmill Community Land Trust.
But we can’t do it without your help. Read a little about that in the Business Weekly article, here.
Built to suit a variety of multipurpose needs, the universally accessible Keshet Performing Arts Center will be available to the greater community for a wide range of events –
- providing high-quality rehearsal space to develop new works;
- a 200-seat theatre to house world-premiere performances;
- an educational facility creating a new generation of world-class performing artists;
- a safe gathering place for youth;
- a home of diverse, multi-generational community mentors;
- flexible use space providing physical fitness and arts education programs to elementary, middle and high school students; and,
- a beautiful, serene location for community special events, symposiums, lectures, and receptions.
