The Company
Keshet Dance Company has been creating and performing innovative, experimental and inspiring dance works for fourteen years. Receiving both local and national recognition for choreography and artistic programming the Repertory Company is comprised of a core group of salaried dancers, complemented by contracted local and visiting artists as determined by project. Generally, projects and repertory works include 5-12 company dancers.
Whether developing productions based on the impact of the Holocaust on American Jews, the images and texts of poet Pablo Neruda, or a modern interpretation of the traditional Nutcracker, Keshet’s repertory engages audiences young and old, opening minds and changing perceptions of what dance and a dancer can be.
Keshet continually collaborates with world-renowned choreographers to maintain artistic versatility and growth. Guest Artists regularly work with Keshet company members, creating new, original dances. During their tenure with Keshet, the visiting artists engage in community programming by hosting workshops, Master Classes, and guest teaching within various Keshet programs. Past guest artists include Henning Rubsam of SENSEDANCE in New York City; Maggie Bergeron, director and choreographer of Maggie Bergeron & Company, dancer for Shapiro and Smith Dance, both in Minneapolis, MN, and adjunct faculty member at the University of Minnesota’s Dance Program; Donna Jewell, University of New Mexico Head of Dance, Artistic Director of Jewell & Company Dance Theater, and a member of ONNO Theater of Vienna, Austria; and Vladimir Conde Reche, a dance professor at the University of New Mexico who trained at Julliard and has performed in England, Germany, Italy, Panama, South Africa, and all over North and South America.
“Keshet Dance Company has become one of the best in the United States…Their work is fresh and powerful, matching thoroughly professional dance with a lot of guts and imagination.” The Albuquerque Journal
